FIDIC contracts come from the acronym Fédération Internationale Des Ingénieurs-Conseils; this is French and it is for consulting engineers to join together in an international federation. The federation was founded in the early 1900s by France, Belgium, and Switzerland. Moreover, the aim was to create standards of construction which could be applied to any construction project around the world to ensure a benchmark of requirements.
