Sir Thomas John Woodward , born in Treforest , Glamorganshire , June 7, 1940 , known by his stage name Tom Jones, is a Welsh singer. He has sold over 100 million albums worldwide .

Tom Jones became known in the 1960s for his great voice, flamboyant style and sensuality , have been key elements in your image as an artist.

His career began in 1963 when he was lead singer Tommy Scott & The Senators , a local beat band then won reputation mainly in South Wales.

The style of Tom Jones , nicknamed El Tigre Wales , captivated many with his warm voice and also very abundant, something rare in a popular singer .

His first single was recorded for the Decca record label in 1964 with the song " intermittent fever " ( "Chills And Fever") ; did not have much interest , but the success came in 1965 with the song "It's Not Unusual" . That same year , she recorded the song for the James Bond film Thunderball titled .

The recognition came with the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
In 1966 , his popularity begin to consolidate through a mature proposal , becoming a big crooner with songs like " Green Green Grass of Home" , "What's New Pussycat ," "Help Yourself" and especially " Delilah" .

The March 29, 2006 , he was knighted by the British Crown of Queen Elizabeth II for his work as an artist.

Today, Tom Jones is still in force , conducting international tours and concerts at the MGM Grand Las Vegas where it occurs for ten or twelve weeks a year.
