The Fatherland Front was the social conservative, nationalist and corporatist ruling political organisation of the Federal State of Austria. It claimed to be a nonpartisan movement, and aimed to unite all the people of Austria, overcoming political and social divisions. Established on 20 May 1933 by Christian Social Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss as the only legally permitted party in the country, it was organised along the lines of Italian Fascism and was fully aligned with the Catholic Church and did not advocate any racial ideology, as later Italian Fascism did.

The Lied der Jugend was unofficially called the "Dollfußlied" and was sung from 1936 to 1938 in the Austrofascist corporate state in honor of the Federal Chancellor and dictator Engelbert Dollfuss, who was murdered in July 1934. The initiative for this song came from Kurt Schuschnigg. The text comes from Rudolf Henz, the melody from the RAVAG composer and conductor Alois Dostal. In the corporate state, the Lied der Jugend was often sung after the national anthem "Sei gesegnet ohne Ende".
