Amreli: A somewhat strange but interesting video has gone viral in social media in which a small calf of a cow can be seen chasing away a young lion in an area close to East Gir forests in Saurashtra region of Gujarat. The video was filmed by someone through mobile phone camera in Barmod village in Khambha area of Amreli district. It shows a calf chasing away a young lion which seemingly had entered the residential area in the village close to forest with an intention to pray on domestic cattle. It was not yet clear whether the lion which can be seen being chased away by the calf had attacked its mother ie cow or not. The video is filmed at night. Gir forest, the only abode of Asiatic lions was spread across over 1800 square km in three districts (Junagadh, Amreli and Gir-Somnath) of Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Lions often enter in the adjoining villages and kill cattle.
