Mr. Schmitt uses his experience leveraging Federal, military and corporate organizations to define true Servant Leadership. Mr. Schmitt has a strong executive leadership, national strategy, and process optimization background with more than 27 years of experience. He served 22 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps and retired in 2007. In 2012, he began his current role as Executive Director of the Minnesota Federal Executive Board. Mr. Schmitt has leadership responsibilities and operational oversight to create value to the public by fostering communication, coordination, and collaboration with all federal, state, and local government agencies.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
