In the 1970s, the United States had three revolutionary fighters entering service: the F-14 Tomcat, the F-15 Eagle, and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. However of these three platforms only the F-14 was incorporated into the Museum, while the Eagle and Viper continue to shift the assembly line to this day.

While the F-14 retired from service with the Navy, and was replaced by the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, the F-14 tomcat was the first of America's "Juvenile Series" fighters to include the F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and F/A-18 Hornet. and it has been proven that even after almost 50 years the Tomcat still has sharp claws.
